My (belated) March Wrap-Up and April TBR Pile!

HIIII!

I know this post is going up SO LATE and I apologise but I've been so busy with studying, reading and socialising that I haven't really had time to blog or, if I have, I've decided to read instead because I'm FINALLY OUT OF MY READING SLUMP AND IT IS INCREDIBLE. Ahem.

I read quite a lot in April especially as I have become OBSESSED with comics. DC comics, to be specific. It all started when I watched the Wonder Woman animated movie and some animated Batman episodes that were free on Prime and then I was like OOH I SHOULD READ THE COMICS and then I started reading the comics and I FELL IN LOVE. They're so good and I adore them! I'm busy working through the Flashpoint event because I think the reboot is set after that event has taken place? I'm also currently reading the essential Batman comics which I'm really enjoying! AH I LOVE IT.

I'm also probably going to take a hiatus from now until June because I need to focus on my exams and although I wish it wasn't the case, my education does come first! I'll probably still pop in now and then but I won't be posting frequently until after the 14th of June! But hit me up on Twitter and we can talk about books and puppies and other fun stuff!

Persopolis - 🍨🍨🍨🍨 | Bone Gap - 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨 (I read this twice! TWICE. IN ONE WEEK. WHO AM I EVEN?!) | The Breadwinner - 🍨🍨🍨🍨 | First Girl - 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨 | Where the Mountain Meets the Moon - 🍨🍨🍨🍨 | Hope Was Here - 🍨🍨🍨.5 | Flashpoint Issues #1 and #2 - 🍨🍨🍨🍨🍨 (I've read a lot of comics since then but they still remain the best comics I've read! I love them) | Secret Origins (graphic novel) - 🍨🍨🍨🍨 (I loved learning the origins behind my favourite heroes!)

As you can see, I read quite a lot of books/comics in March! Bone Gap was my favourite and I reread it two days after finishing it. THAT NEVER HAPPENS. EVER. Can you tell how much I loved it?! You can read my review here, but it's over 2000 words so you may want to make you a cup of tea before you read it. 😜 Persepolis, The Breadwinner, First Girl and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon were all wonderful! They were incredibly diverse and rich in culture, folklore and history. I'd highly recommend them! I particularly loved First Girl and Where the Mountain Meets the Moon. If you have any recommendations for books with Chinese protagonists or books set in China PLEASE comment them because I'd love to read more books set in China/featuring Chinese protagonists! I also read Hope Was Here which was pretty good and I liked the message it sent but the characters were too flat and I never felt as if I connected that much to the story as the book was quite short and I felt as if I didn't have time to form a deep connection to it. Secret Origins was fantastic as it allowed me to learn about the origins of my favourite heroes!

I'm going to try to read as many of these as possible this month! I probably won't be able to read as much as I want to because EXAMS ARE NEXT MONTH *heavy breathing* but if I manage my time well, I should be able to fit in quite a bit of reading time! These books all look fantastic and I am EXCITED.

What books did you read in March? Which one was your favourite? DO YOU LIKE COMICS TOO?? If so, which ones are your favourite? LET'S TALK.
