Summer Biannual Bibliothon and 24-in-48 Readathon Wrap-Up

One of the things I love most about summer is all the readathons I get to participate in. I GET TO MAKE TBR LISTS AND READ ALL THE BOOKS!!! If that doesn't sound like heaven, I don't know what does.

I participated in two readathons this past week: the summer biannual bibliothon and the 24-in-48 readathons. I kind of failed at both of them but hey, at least I got quite a few books read!

I ended up being quite busy the week of the summer bibib readathon (and I socialised?? What is this??), so I didn't get to read all the books I wanted to or complete the books I set out to. However, I'm still proud of what I did manage to read!

The reading challenges were:
1. Read the group book. This year it's THE WICKED DEEP
2. Choose from someone else’s TBR
3. Try the first chapter of 3 books and pick 1
4. Read a book that has been on your TBR for over a year
5. Read a predicted 5 star read
6. Own voices - different than YOU
7. Read the last book you bought
I didn't read The Wicked Deep, as I don't like reading witchy books. I read This Savage Song which completed challenge #2 and challenge #4.  I tried the first chapter of Take Back the Skies, Defy the Stars and Satellite. I ended up reading Take Back the Skies, which I really didn't like. It started off good...but then it kind of went downhill. Those were the only two books I managed to read for this readathon. WHOOPS. I did manage to read 4 books for the 24-in-48 though...so it's all good. Kind of...I miserably failed that one haha!

So, for the 24-in-48 readathon challenges you to read a total of 24 hours in 48 hours. I kind of knew I wasn't going to accomplish 24 hours, as I'm not someone who can read for hours and hours on end, but maybe next time I'll be able to beat my time. I ended up reading for 13 hours and 12 minutes. YAY! I'm happy I read past 12 hours, that was the minimum amount of reading I wanted to accomplish. I woke up pretty late on Saturday (9 am), so I missed 9 hours reading time (well done). I read from 9, taking breaks every now and then, and I watched a movie with my parents that evening instead of reading, BUT I think I read 7 hours on Saturday. My brain was a bit dead but it was worth it.
I read 2 books on Saturday: Satellite by Nick Lake and Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu. I read 650 pages on Saturday.

On Sunday I read for over 5 hours and also finished two books. I completed Orphan Monster Spy by Matt Killeen and Wing Jones by Katherine Webber. Orphan Monster Spy was a bit hard to follow at times and it contained quite disturbing things that kind of triggered my anxiety, so I didn't love it as much because of how dark it was. Wing Jones was WONDERFULLLL!!! I think I gave it 4.5 cupcakes. The characters were amazing (and diverse!!) and I loved the family dynamics and message of hope that was interwoven throughout the book. SO FREAKING GOOD.

I'm really proud of the books I managed to read!

Did you participate in these? Have you read any of these books?
