Top Ten Tuesday #20 - Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR

The original title of today's topic had to do with winter, but since it's summer here now, I will be doing Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR Pile instead.

As you guys know I LOVE summer, when I'm able to wear shorts and skirts and t-shirts instead of sweatpants and jerseys, it makes me want to do some of this:

It's a chance for me to lie outside the whole day whilst eating copious amounts of ice-cream, get a tan and catch up on some contemporary books (I generally read fantasy/dystopia in winter instead of contemporaries, generally.).

Here is my list of top ten books that I'll be reading in summer, yes, I am aware that some of these books constitute as whole series but...pfft, I'm sure that doesn't matter.

Harry Potter: The Complete SeriesPercy Jackson and the Olympians Boxed Set (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #1-3)Isla and the Happily Ever After (Anna and the French Kiss, #3)Along for the RideThe Fine Art of Pretending (The Fine Art of Pretending, #1)We Were LiarsThat Boy (That Boy, #1)That SummerThe Goddess Test (Goddess Test, #1)City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments, #6)

These are the top books on my TBR! I've been waiting for the long summer holidays to finish the Harry Potter series and City of Heavenly Fire without school distracting me. I really want to read Isla and the Happily Ever After as I loved the other two books. I love Sarah Dessen's books, as they have the perfect summer feel so I'm excited to read those! I've heard endless good things about We Were Liars, so I hope that once I read it I'll enjoy it! That Boy and The Fine Art of Pretending look so cute, so I can't wait to read those! I'm also into mythology books at the moment and The Goddess Test series seem like the perfect contender! Because I have also just finished The Blood of Olympus and the series is over, I have an urge to re-read the Percy Jackson series, it's been nearly four years so it's time for a re-read!

Leave your links below and I'll stop by!

  1. Thanks for visiting my TTT! Your list looks like it's full of some amazing reads! I mentioned the second Harry Potter book in my post because I've only actually read the first book, and really enjoyed it! I also need to read Isla. I had pre-ordered it, but have still not read it and I'm kind of mad at myself! Haha. Enjoy your summer! It's freezing here, but I'm so ready. We had a hot summer here. :)

  2. I tend to read fantasy/dystopia during winter and contemporary books during summer too! The first three books on your lists are already pure gold: Harry Potter, Percy Jackson & Isla? Those are some of my favorite books/series! I enjoyed The Goddess Test, but didn't think it was amazing.

Thank you for visiting & commenting on my TTT! You've got a great list here :)

  3. Yay! I thought I was the only one who did that! I just find that if it's rainy and storming outside it's so much better to read high fantasy and dystopia than if it's really hot, I don't know why! Thanks for commenting! <3

  13. You're definitely not the only one! I am a mood-reader, I only ever pick up what I am in the mood to read. And during the summers, I tend to always read contemporaries and new adults. High fantasy/dystopia fits better with winter in my mind :D

  22. Yay! When I tell people I prefer reading fantasy/dystopia in winter and contemporaries in summer, they look at me funny. You're right, it definitely seems to fit better reading certain books during certain seasons! :D

  23. The Truth About Forever is also on my summer tbr list! Glad you enjoyed them! :)

  24. That's a pretty awesome list! I've read some of them, but some of the books, I believe I will have to add to my ever growing TBR pile! Enjoy the outdoors. Oh how I wish it was summer here. :)

  25. It is so nice to see a list full of fun summer books, I'm stuck in cold wet England and I want to read books to comfort me whilst I curl up in a nest of blankets with a warm drink. Your TBR list, though. It makes me think of warm summer days lying out in the grass drinking drinks with ice cubes in and having all the time in the world. Sarah Dessen writes the perfect summer books for that.

The Goddess Test us a surprisingly good read, I was a bit wary when I picked it up, but then I was hooked. There is a perfect balance of story and mythology, it's not too in depth to be intimidating when you don't know that much.

  29. The Fine Art of Pretending is one I hope to be reading soon. If time allows :) I have it at home, checked out from the library, but I'm not sure I'll get to it before it's due. It does look really cute though!

  30. Winter is a nice time for reading too, I love curling up under a blanket with hot chocolate when it's cold, but I must say I do prefer summer more! True, I love reading her books in summer, they're perfect for that!

I'm looking forward to reading The Goddess Test, the only mythology books I've really read are Rick Riordan's ones, so it'll be interesting seeing the myths come to life from another author's point of view! :)

I need to read more Sarah Dressen....;)

  37. I really want to read the Rick Riordan books and definitely need to finish the Mortal Instruments series! I've been hearing very good things about CoHF! I have to admit that, despite MANY recommendations, I still haven't read any Sarah Dessen. I might try to correct that next summer...

    Happy reading!

P.S. Trying REALLY hard not to be super jealous of your summer as I sit here in my wool sweater, scarf and fleece blanket...
