Mini review: The Velveteen Rabbit - Margery Williams

The Velveteen Rabbit
Title: The Velveteen Rabbit
Author: Margery Williams
Publication: 1922
Pages: 40 pages
Source: My own
Rating: 5/5 Cupcakes!
Nursery magic is very strange and wonderful, and only those playthings that are old and wise and experienced like the Skin Horse understand all about it.
Like the Skin Horse, Margery Williams understood how toys--and people--become real through the wisdom and experience of love. This reissue of a favorite classic, with the original story and illustrations as they first appeared in 1922, will work its magic for all who read it.

I've heard of The Velveteen Rabbit and I saw it on my mom's iPad and I decided to read it. I was immediately entranced by the stunning story of The Velveteen Rabbit.

The Velveteen Rabbit is a heart-warming story of a little toy rabbit that belongs to the Boy and because of the Boy's love for it, the velveteen rabbit becomes real to the boy. The little toy rabbit's coat becomes worn and the seam comes undone, the ears turn from pink to grey and the he becomes all saggy, but the little rabbit doesn't mind because he knows that he is now Real.

However, when the little boy falls ill and he's germs populate the rabbit, the little velveteen rabbit has to be chucked out. But a miracle happens, thanks to a kind fairy! He becomes a real little rabbit, not just to the boy, but to the world. When the little rabbit had been thrown out and forgotten it broke my heart and I just wanted him to be happy and feel loved again.

The Velveteen is a heart-warming story that made my heart ache with love and happiness for the rabbit. A beautiful tale that should be shared with all.

I give it: 5/5 CUPCAKES!

Realm of Read-along: Cinder Read-along Sign Ups

Realm of Read-Along
is a monthly feature hosted by me, Kyra from Blog of a Bookaholic and
Emma, from Never Judge a Book by its Cover . We decided to start a meme that would help decrease that ever-growing pile of TBR’s whether they are eBooks, Bought or Borrowed Books and ARC’s.

Hi Everyone,

Today is the beginning and the first Realm of Read-Along book feature. As you saw on Friday the reveal for this month is... Cinder by Marissa Meyer.

So for those of you who would like to join along with myself and Emma, here is what you have to do:

  • First Link yourself up with the Linky posted below. The more the merrier!
  • Grab our button for this months book to showcase our meme across the blogosphere.
  • Then as part of the discussion with the read-along, we have created a Goodreads Group were we will create discussion post for every book in Cinder you have read. Instead of every 5 chapters we saw that Cinder was split into Books, so when you finish each book we would love to see your thoughts so far.
  • Also for those who know us on Twitter be sure to say hi to then and see how your doing on this months book.
  • Once you have read it you are free to post your review, all we would like is a mention or link to our meme to show that you participated.
There is no rush to read this book, we know that like myself we are going through exams, revision or generally lots of homework and studying. All we would like is to share the realm of reading along with us.

After the first Read-Along we will then ask what you thought and how could do it better? What do you think of this meme? Would like you to join us? Leave us a comment, we would love to know what you think?

Don't forget to join the Linky below. This is my first time using this tool, so I hope everything work well. If you have any problems comment below or email me at neverjudgeabookbyitscovers {at} gmail {dot} com.

Realm of Read-along: April Read-along Choice!

Hi guys! As some of you may know, Emma from Never Judge a Book by It's Cover and I, Kyra, have created a read-a-long meme, where we choose a book to read together and then discuss the book once we have finished it! If you want to read-a-long a book with us you can become a member on our Goodreads group to keep track of our discussion posts and see what the other readers think. There will also be a Linky list available if you want to sign up to read the chosen book of the month.

We also created a Goodreads group, where we will keep track of the books we have read and also discuss what we thought of the books. There are a few members that would like to read-a-long with us and me and Emma will reveal which book was chosen for the April read-a-long! The sign-ups for the specific book will be up on Monday, where you will be able to put your name down if you want to read the book with us!

We placed a poll on the Goodreads group, and the members of the group voted which book they would like to read this out of these ten books:

The book for chosen for the April read-a-long isssssss *drumroll*:

Taaa-dddaaaa! :D

For all those who haven't read Cinder, now you can! Read it. Discuss it. Fangirl. Fun!! :D *throws confetti and chocolate*

More information on the read-a-long will be posted this Monday.

Meme Reveal!

Hello Everyone! Today I have a special post to share with you all. We would like to welcome you to our BRAND New Feature!

Realm of Read-Along is a monthly feature hosted by me, Kyra from Blog of a Bookaholic and Emma from Never Judge A Book By Its Cover. We decided to start a meme that would help decrease that ever-growing pile of TBR’s whether they are eBooks, Bought or Borrowed Books and ARC’s.
Each month myself and Emma will compile a list that will consist of number of titles that we both wish to read together. We will then create a post to showcase the Book of the Month and will include a Linky to those who would like to join in with us. There is no rush to read the book, we just want to share enjoyment of reading between you all.
We also have a Goodreads Group (http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/99117-realm-of-read-a-long) especially for this meme for you to join and discuss were you are currently at in the book and fan girl about it! Those of you who know us on Twitter be sure to tweet how are you are all doing through the book as well.
After the first Read-Along we will then ask what you thought and how could do it better? What do you think of this meme? Would like you to join us?  Leave us a comment, we would love to know what you think?
So the Picks for this month are:

Which title would you like to read in April? You can join our GR Group and vote on our poll or you can leave us a comment below.
We would love to hear your thoughts on our meme as well. Be sure to look back soon when we reveal the Book of the Month – April!
