New Firsts is a perfect book to read when you're looking for a light, easy read. This book is all about the first days of high school, coping with keeping friends, losing friends, making enemies and experiencing first love. An enjoyable read that takes your mind on a trip down memory lane.
I LOVE this cover. It's bright, beautiful and stands out. I like the lockers as it immediately makes me visualise life in high school. I know I shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but there are some exceptions you can make. This is a bright, stunning cover that has lots of pink in it, which I love.
I liked the characters, I didn't feel a deep sense of care for them, they didn't have any third dimensional characteristic, which made them sometimes seem a bit like cardboard figures. I did, however, sympathise for them when they were going through the ups and downs of high school.
The plot was basic and didn't wow me. New Firsts is a very short, simple book so there wasn't any extraordinary happenings.
An easy read that will appeal to children and teens who are looking for an enjoyable book. There are a few life lessons in there, which we can learn something from, how to keep best friends, how do deal with the mean girl and a how to BE a best friend. I found it a bit simple, but nonetheless I enjoyed it. :)
